Learn more about what tags and tag groups are in this article. Below, we will outline the process required for creating, editing and managing your tags. Please note that tags will not be visible in the journal until they have been added to a tag group. Learn more about creating, editing and managing tag groups here.
Creating Tags – Method 1 #
After opening your Journal from the Tradecraft Dashboard, click on the gear icon on the left side navigation pane, then click on Tags.

Click the New Tag button, which will bring up a menu for you to enter your tag information. You can add an optional description of the tag. Change the color as well as the settings of how the tag will be displayed in your journal. The Level and Stopwatch timer options are explained here.
Note that two tags cannot have the same name.

Creating Tags – Method 2 #
There are 2 additional alternative methods to creating tags, and this is done via the Tag Group screen. Method 1 can be seen here. And Method 2 can be seen here.
Below, we briefly outline how to add a tag from the Tag Group screen as outlined in method 2. Once you have a Tag Group created, click the “+” icon to create new tag, then click the ‘Create’ button when finished.

Editing a Tag #
If you need to edit the name of a tag group, its description or change whether it’s Level or add it to a Stopwatch Timer, simply click the pencil icon as you hover over the tag in the Tags screen under settings.
Deleting Tags #
Tags can be deleted in the “Settings” section under “Tags”. We advise not to delete tags. Especially if you have a large sample size of trades attached to that tag. For example if you have 300 trades attached to that tag, deleting it will erase that tag and all data associated with it. Instead, we suggest that you drag the tag into the “un-grouped” section. Here, it will be “retired” and you will no longer see the tag on your journal or your filters on the main dash. However, the tag and attached trades are still there. It is simply hidden when dragged into the “un-grouped” section. If you wish to use this un-grouped tag again, you cou can drag it out of the “un-grouped” section back into any group.

To delete a tag, hover over the tag you wish to delete and 3 icons will pop up, then click the “X” icon.
You will receive the following message: “This tag will be PERMANENTLY DELETED and will be removed from any trade that it is attached to. If you simply want to stop using it, you should drag it to the un-grouped tags section.”
